The action is hot on Chequamegon Bay for smallmouth and just about every thing that swims in the bay. The early fall into October is probably some of the best fishing for smallies in the world. Plenty of big fish are stacking up and putting on the weight. I've had several fish boated pushing 7lbs in the last two weeks. Those same fish have the potential to reach 8lbs by end of October easily. On some days you can count 15 boats scattered around the bay chasing bronzebacks and other days just a handful. As we move into October, those number dwindle fast. The fishing will be going strong though, especially for the big fish.
